Quick Start: Perform Calculation

  • Open the software by pressing the Windows key and typing "Linearis...". Windows should offer you the Linearis3D software. Click on it and start the software.
  • Select "New" from the "Project" menu.
  • Select "Stairs Measurement" from the drop-down menu at the top. The default mode is intended for photogrammetry cameras.
  • Select the folder containing your project images.
  • Select "Stairs_Reference_Board_A.lin3ds".
  • Click "Add Images and Calculate". This will take a few minutes.
  • Click "Next"
  • In the small window titled "Stairs," click "Create"
  • Click "Export." Within the file dialog, you can select the desired file format at the bottom.
Please use the built-in help function to familiarize yourself with all the program's features.

Advanced Troubleshooting with the Windows App

This section applies only to the Windows app. You can take the following steps to repair an incomplete project.
  • Disable strict orientation in the settings. Do not use this setting by default, and be sure to perform a control measurement, as this can reduce accuracy.
  • Start the calculation in the "New" dialog with a different reference table. Alternatively, you can use the "Select Start Cross" option in the project menu.
  • Check that all markers are visible in the photos. Each marker must be visible at least multiple times in different photos. You can reduce the minimum number of observations to three in the settings if you want to save a marker that is only present in three photos. The disadvantage is that incorrect marker positions may be added to the project. If a marker is not present in the images, it cannot be calculated.
  • Ensure there are enough overlapping images. Hold down the Shift key and click on the last aligned camera in the 3D view. The corresponding image will open. Use the arrow keys to move to the next image. Check that the images overlap. If they do not, the project cannot be saved. These situations can be avoided by following the recommended image acquisition procedure (up, down, up, down + platforms).
  • Check for duplicate markers: Each marker should only be present at one location in a measurement. Model creation is usually aborted when duplicate markers are detected, or missing markers occur. To check if a project contains duplicate markers, look for markers with purple crosses in the 2D view. A purple cross means that a marker was calculated for a 3D position, but the observation in the current image does not match the other observations and cannot be used. Projects with duplicate numbers cannot be salvaged with reasonable effort.
  • Check blur, brightness, and marker detection. If no crosses are visible in the 2D view, it means no markers could be detected. This is due to images that are too dark or too blurry. These projects usually cannot be saved.

Editing a Contour

Delete any existing contour by selecting and deleting the distances underlying the contour in the geometry window. Now create your own distances so that they form the desired contour. Note: The distances must be in the same temporal and spatial order, i.e., one distance must be connected to the next. You can only use points for the contour that belong to the same plane. To create a distance, select two points and click "Create Distance" in the "Analysis" menu. Finally, click "Update Contour" to automatically name the distances.

Suppressing Interfering Points

This could, for example, be an accidentally left-over marker that interferes with the stair calculation. To do this, select all points in the 3D view using CTRL-I and deselect interfering points using Shift-click. Then recalculate the project using "Recalculate" in the "Acquire" menu.
